D E S C R I P T I O N
Reports to: Chief Scientist
Position Description: The engineer will work in conjunction with the chief scientist to conceptualize, design, analyze, prototype and test novel optical concepts. The engineer’s responsibilities range from detail modeling of optical systems to hands-on building of prototypes and test fixtures to detail acquisition and analysis. The position will require a person with strong data analysis skills. The ideal candidate would have a broad knowledge base in material science, physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and an emphasis on optical engineering.
Responsibilities: Design imaging and non-imaging optical systems Analyze optical systems Take concept through prototype design, build and test Illumination System Design Design experiments to verify concepts Design and build demo units/demo kits
Qualifications/Skills: BSME, BSEE, BSAO – multiple degrees a plus Strong Analytical skills Engineering analysis of optical systems Systems analysis Experience with Zemax, FRED and other optical design tools Tolerance Analysis of sequential and non-sequential optics Hands-on, ability to work in the lab 2-5 years of industry experience Good team player able to interface with Marketing, Engineering and Manufacturing personnel Excellent communication and problem solving skills Solidworks experience a plus
